WOR-
SLEY

This garden design project in Worsley, Salford, started life as a space barely bigger than a postage stamp.

The fundamental design principles and client brief focused on creating a low-maintenance garden, but not within the rigid confines of traditional design; instead, the aim was for an outward-looking, European aesthetic. Another key requirement was that the design should have a strong architectural context, whilst also providing a haven for insects to coexist harmoniously with humans.

A central vision for this garden was to truly connect the indoor and outdoor spaces while keeping the garden distinct from the living room. The goal was to create a sense of immersion in the garden, even whilst seated inside.

To achieve this, we deliberately chose not to follow the traditional approach of extending the inside out. Instead, we focused on designing an outdoor space that flows into the interior in a way that feels complementary.
