The RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2025 was, on the surface, everything we’ve come to expect from the world’s most prestigious horticultural event. But beneath the pristine lawns and perfectly manicured show gardens, this year’s show took a more introspective turn.
The resignation of RHS ambassador Tayshan Hayden-Smith just days before the show opened sparked widespread debate. His damning critique of Chelsea as “environmentally damaging” and “elitist” touching a nerve in an industry still grappling with its role in a time of climate crisis and social change.
