WORLSLEY

The Brief

For this front garden redesign in Worsley, the client wanted a space that respected and enhanced the 1920s character of their home, one of the few in the area to have retained its original architectural charm.

The garden needed to feel authentic to the period while also accommodating practical requirements, including off-road parking that wouldn’t dominate the frontage or detract from the property’s heritage.

The Design

To honour the home’s era, we replaced the existing block paving with reclaimed cobbles, giving the driveway a more authentic, time-worn character that sits beautifully against the 1920s façade. These were paired with granite setts for the pathways and edging to add crisp definition while remaining true to the period style.

A key element of the redesign was the introduction of bespoke railings along the front boundary wall. Collaborating with an artisan blacksmith, we created railings that echo traditional craftsmanship and enhance the property’s original aesthetic to make sure the frontage feels cohesive.

The Garden

To soften the presence of the new parking space and introduce structure and greenery, we added a centrally placed island planting bed along the pathway. This bed helps screen the driveway, enhances the sense of arrival, and subtly guides the eye toward the front door and the architectural details of the house. As the planting matures, it will provide seasonal interest, elegance, and a welcoming sense of place.
