LYD-
GATE

On our first visit, the main garden area as you entered was a tarmac driveway with a small patch of artificial lawn, open to the road, whilst the rear courtyard had rendered walls and lacked character. However, the standout feature was the breathtaking views of the rolling High Peaks, which framed the entire space beautifully.

The clients wanted a child-friendly garden for their daughter Eve, including a play area and space to grow plants, while transforming the carpark-like space into something more practical and private. To achieve this, we proposed a grazing garden where plants would serve dual purposes—offering visual appeal and providing edible fruits and herbs. This approach aimed to inspire Eve and encourage the family to interact with the garden.

The main deck was centered to maximise sunlight and views, whilst a cedar slatted fence and gate provided privacy and security. In the rear courtyard, a green wall added texture, and inset seating enhanced functionality. A mix of trees, shrubs and perennials brought the garden closer to the house, creating a seamless connection with the wider landscape.
