Roof gardens are an excellent way to make the most of a flat roof while enjoying elevated views. I designed this roof garden in Alderley Edge to take full advantage of its sweeping countryside vistas. The design includes an outdoor kitchen with a double fridge and fully plumbed sink, making it a perfect space for entertaining. A pergola offers shade from the sun and rain, while the addition of a wood burner pizza oven creates a cosy spot to enjoy a warm glow on chilly evenings.

In the "before" picture, the roof footprint was much smaller, but it was expanded as part of a major house renovation. The raised bed planters are filled with ornamental plants and herbs, creating an interactive, functional planting scheme that complements the overall aesthetic. This roof garden is part of a larger project, which also includes a newly designed orchard and wildflower meadow. Ground-level designs are set to be installed in the coming months.
