When the clients first reached out, they described their small back garden in South Manchester as a blank canvas—a space dominated by an oversized trampoline and a poorly constructed platform. They loved everything about Southeast Asia and asked if we could bring that essence to their garden.
On first visit, the garden looked like a blank canvas mess, with little more than an oversized trampoline and a poorly installed platform off the back of the house. For us, it was a dream project—a blank canvas waiting to be transformed.
In designing this garden, we drew on extensive travels throughout SE Asia to create a space surrounded by lush plants. The design featured three interconnected platforms, each offering a unique calming effect, all set to the soothing background sounds of a bespoke water feature, designed specifically for this project by DK Garden Design.
The result speaks for itself, often leaving visitors speechless. The garden boasts an exotic array of plants—from towering bananas and Schefflera taiwaniana to Aspidistra and giant flowering ginger lilies—all canopied by majestic Tasmanian tree ferns. Remarkably, these plants not only survive but thrive in Manchester's climate.
One year on, the clients shared their thoughts: "It’s full to bursting with plants, and we love it. It genuinely feels like we could be anywhere in SE Asia!"
